The beginning...
So, we've decided on a title. Bird 'flu. Exciting stuff. Gotta say, slightly wary that this is a little too topical, in the sense that things may change a little too rapidly, and that by the time we have all the filmed footage we need, the situation may have already changed dramatically. Hmm, who knows...I think the first and most important thing we need to do is work out our timeline, when we want different things done by, and STICK TO IT! We are also this week working out the titles, of all the different things that we want included in the video. This week there seems to be a lot of information on the news, especially today as there is news that H5N1 has been found in birds in Turkey (nice pun?), as well as another interesting BBC article. I managed yesterday to catch a piece on Channel 4 News, with a panel of experts (maybe we could nab a few names), and spoke to Jon's mum about some ideas of directions to go in. I also downloaded the Department of Health guidance document on the contingency plans in the event of pandemic 'flu, which was published in March, which you can find here in pdf form. There should be an updated version of this coming out in the next week or so.
Next week we will hopefully be starting our media training in how to use all the specialist equipment we will need in filming. By our meeting on Tuesday, I would like to come up with the titles and sequence I come up with, and also make notes on one of the past years projects, in terms of filming style and documentary techniques.
